Breast health: your comprehensive Guide and impact on Sex Life

Breast cancer is the most feared disease amongst women and yet most ladies actually do not know that much about it. We need to highlight what women should know but very often don’t hear. It will empower them to make informed decisions about how they want to approach their own breast health.

Breasts are absolutely crucial to women’s lives. They offer women their unique shapes. They are the means to achieve sexual pleasure, both for man & woman during a sexual interaction. And they are the source of life-sustaining milk to the infants.

Just like some men are comfortable with their penis size while others aren’t, some women are completely comfortable with their breasts, however others aren’t. They are concerned that their bosom is too big or too small, take a seat too high or hang too low, are lopsided, or aren’t as firm or toned as they once were. Irrespective of size or shape, all women want healthy breasts for a lifetime.

Amongst younger ladies, wide-spread breast complications can consist of fibrocystic breast disease, a noncancerous condition associated with breast pain, cysts, and lumps); and fibroadenomas, tiny bumps of fibrous and glandular tissue that can be painful.

For more mature women, the concern is more likely to be breast cancer. About 1 in 8 (12%) of women living in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of their lifespans. Annually, approximately 300,000 American women are identified as having some form of breast cancer, and close to 40,000 die of it.

Cancer of the breasts can often be effectively treated, especially if it is detected early. That’s why women are urged to check their breasts at home, and to have regular mammograms beginning at age 50 (or earlier for ladies at high risk for developing breast cancer).

Tips for good Breast Health

There are many things you can do to obtain and maintain and optimal breast health as well as sexual health. Studies show that an active lifestyle, a healthy diet, and plenty of sleep are among the most important and easiest things you can do to support breast health. Genetics also plays a part in whether or not a woman develops breast cancer. If your mom, sister, aunt or grandmother has had breast cancer, your risk increases.

Below are some of the tips & information to help you keep healthy breasts-

Exercise, exercise, exercise! Here’s why it may help: Fat cells produce estrogen, and high levels of that hormone have been linked to certain cancers. That’s an even more compelling reason to maintain healthy weight and not to let the number on the scale creep up: Extra pounds equals an increase in estrogen production. Besides, maintaining healthy weight also helps a great sex life.

Don’t freak out over a lump. Four out of five lumps felt in the breast are benign. Though a new lump is probably not cancer, get it checked out by your doctor, just in case.

Fill up your diet with fruit and veggies. What do these items have in common? They are rich in fiber and provide numerous health benefits due to high levels of antioxidants and phyto-nutrient compounds.

Juices and veggies also contain the most potent detox agents on earth? Mother Nature provided these foods with vitamins that can help flush toxins from the body.

Why women need detox? Chemicals and toxins everywhere in our every day lives enhance the risk factors for cancers of the breast. Quite simply, each day we are subjecting ourselves to chemical substances which weren’t there 60 years ago and most of which do not have appropriate health and safety data, especially when used in blended formulations. These items are in our food and products packaging, in our cleaning products, in our home furnishings and paints and in our beauty and personal care products. If you look around, you can start to appreciate this fact and understand how many synthetic chemicals we are exposed to every day.

Foods rich in antioxidants are believed to help keep your cells strong and possibly fend off breast cancer. Colorful fruits such as blueberries, cranberries, strawberries, blackberries, and pomegranates are filled with cancer-fighting antioxidants. We recommend Athletic Greens, a superb antioxidant supplement which is good not only for general breast health but also great for good sex life. Now, an antioxidant supplement can’t cure severe sexual disorders like Female hypoactive sexual desire or ED in case of men, for which they might need viagra or BlueChew.

Many vegetables such as arugula, kale, carrots, spinach, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower are especially helpful. Organic foods are especially healthy because they do not contain pesticides and environmental pollutants. Some research suggests that soy intake should be limited, as it can cause increased levels of estrogen in the body. Limit your saturated fat intake as much as possible.

Drink less alcohol. A meta-analysis of 53 studies showed that women who drank more than three drinks a day had 1.5 times the risk of developing breast cancer as did nondrinkers.

Get a good night’s sleep. There is evidence now that lack of sleep may increase breast cancer’s risk. One report says that they found “consistent evidence” of morning preference having a “protective effect” on breast cancer risk. They also found “suggestive evidence” that sleeping more than 7–8 hours per night could have an “adverse effect” on breast cancer risk. Healthy sleep patterns are not only good for beast health, they are good for anti-aging as well as a good sex life.

Practice peace. Stress should be kept to a minimum which helps to keep your immune system strong. Besides, peace, serenity & overall calm attitude have a great impact on your sex life.

Go natural with HRT. It is thought that women who start their menstrual cycle before the age of twelve are at an increased risk for developing breast cancer, as are women who go through menopause after the age of fifty-five. Obviously you cannot control your menstruation cycles, but you can be careful if you fall into these categories. Long periods of hormone replacement therapy and use of birth control pills both increase levels of hormones in the body. Try to take natural remedies to ease menopause symptoms or take low levels of hormone replacement for the shortest amount of time possible.

Try not to smoke.

Wear the right size bra and don’t wear an underwired bra all day every day to ensure that you are not putting undue pressure on your lymphatic system – give your boobs a breather!

Choose a deodorant rather than an antiperspirant. Look for one which is free of aluminum if you don’t want to block your sweat glands and avoid parabens which are an oestrogen mimicking preservative. Stopping the use of aluminum may also help to reduce cysts and alleviate painful, tender breasts.

Control your estrogen levels by choosing personal care and beauty products which are free of hormone disrupting chemicals. Ingredients to avoid are anything ending in paraben, parfum or fragrance, mineral oil and all byproducts of the petrochemical industry. There is much more choice available today and you can choose products which exclude those ingredients. Excess estrogen levels are also bad for men, who sometimes may develop conditions like gynecomastia. (We reviewed Gynectrol , an estrogen blocker for men.)

Chose paraben free sex lubes. Sex without wetness is pure torture while a well lubricated sex is pleasant; but unfortunately natural lubrication could elude you due to emotional upset or biological changes in your body. Even for well-rounded women without emotional hang-up, a prolonged sexual intercourse could still bring about vaginal dryness. For a more comprehensive list of recommended paraben-free sex lubricants for women, read this article.
Undertake detoxifying breast massage twice daily to encourage lymphatic drainage. Breast massage can also help with painful or tender breasts as well as breast cysts. Be mindful what you massage into your breasts though – you don’t want to adding to your toxic load when you are trying to encourage the lymphatic system to detox! Breasts massage are great exercise, as well as foreplay techniques for better sex.
Choose natural solutions for cleaning your home – some of the most dangerous chemicals we expose ourselves to are under the kitchen sink. Not only will you create a safer environment for your family, you will also save money!
Try digital infrared thermal imaging.  If you have a family history of breast cancer or you are concerned about your breasts in any way, try digital infrared thermal imaging to monitor safely the health of your breasts.

Final Notes

One of our foci is breast health apart from better sex life for women & men , and it is important that you are armed with some facts before you start on your journey to breast health. In the light of the billions of pounds which have been spent world-wide on breast cancer research over the past twenty years, you may well be shocked by these statistics. Consider the following:-

1 in 8 women in the UK will get breast cancer during their lifetime.
47,700 women (around 130 every day) get breast cancer every year in this country and this figure is rising
Around 20% of cases are in women aged 25-49.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK
Breast cancer is the most common cause of death in women aged 35-54.

Now these are just figures – what really brings them home is that we all know someone who has had breast cancer, whether it is in our own family or a celebrity.

You might be surprised to read about the acknowledged risk factors – I find that most women think breast cancer risk is most commonly related to hereditary factors yet this equates for less than 10% of cases. It really is important that every woman realises that all women are at risk. The following list covers the most common factors and is not in order of priority.

  • Late-age pregnancy/no children/no breastfeeding
  • Use of the Pill and HRT
  • Early puberty
  • Late onset menopause
  • High oestrogen levels
  • Dense breasts
  • Overweight/Obesity
  • Alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Lack of exercise
  • Shift work
  • Occupational hazard
  • Age – the older you get, the higher your risk
  • Genetic inheritance (around 10%)

Some of these things you can control, some you can’t.

Breast Cancer and Younger Women

The rise in younger women has been attributed to having fewer children, having them later in life, use of the Pill and higher alcohol consumption. These are all valid reasons.

The one potential risk factor, which is rarely mentioned, is the huge number of hormone disrupting chemicals to which we, usually unknowingly, expose ourselves every day in our personal care and beauty products.

Whilst we continue to follow this “synthetic” lifestyle, rates of cancer will keep on rising, in my opinion, and more and more women will have to go through the physical challenges of breast cancer treatment and, just as damaging, the emotional strain.
